III. Solution

To address the above needs, we recommended and deployed Beilai Technology's BL110 IoT gateway for this commercial complex, building a complete intelligent monitoring system for the power distribution room.

Equipment Integration and Data Acquisition: The BL110 IoT gateway connects to smart meters, power monitoring instruments, and other equipment in the power distribution room via RS485 interfaces, enabling automatic identification and acquisition of device operating parameters such as voltage, current, power, and energy. Its rich protocol support capabilities (such as Modbus RTU/TCP) ensure compatibility with various devices, allowing seamless integration without the need for large-scale equipment modifications.

For temperature and humidity sensors and water leakage sensors, they are connected to the gateway via RS485 or DI interfaces. This integration under a single gateway achieves comprehensive data acquisition of both power equipment and environmental parameters.

Edge Computing and Data Processing: The BL110 has powerful edge computing capabilities. Locally, it can analyze and process the collected data according to preset threshold rules. For example, setting normal fluctuation ranges for current and voltage, the gateway can immediately make a judgment when real-time data exceeds these ranges, mark the data, and upload the processed key data to the cloud platform. This process reduces dependence on network bandwidth while improving the real-time response capability of the system.

Multi-Platform Docking and Remote Monitoring: The gateway supports docking with various cloud platforms, and we connected it to the management cloud platform selected by the commercial complex. Through this connection, management personnel can remotely monitor the equipment operating status and environmental parameters of the power distribution room anytime, anywhere via the cloud platform interface on computers or mobile phones. Viewing real-time data or accessing historical records becomes easy.

Alarm System Integration: When equipment malfunctions or environmental parameters are abnormal, the BL110 IoT gateway can trigger an alarm mechanism. It can send alarm information to designated maintenance personnel through multiple methods such as SMS and APP push notifications. At the same time, the gateway accurately records key information such as the time of the fault and the equipment location, facilitating maintenance personnel to quickly locate the problem and carry out repairs.

IV. Implementation Process

Equipment Installation and Wiring: Our technical team first conducted a detailed survey of the power distribution room and rationally planned the installation location of the BL110 IoT gateway based on equipment distribution and monitoring needs. During the installation process, we strictly followed electrical installation specifications for equipment fixing and wiring, ensuring secure connections and neat wiring to avoid affecting data transmission and equipment operation due to line issues.

For sensor installation, we focused on their measurement accuracy and stability. For example, temperature and humidity sensors were installed in locations that accurately reflect the overall environmental conditions of the power distribution room, while water leakage sensors were placed in areas prone to leakage, such as near air conditioning condensate pipes and at the bottom of distribution boxes.
Gateway Configuration and Debugging: Technicians connected to the BL110 IoT gateway via computer and accessed its configuration interface. They set the gateway's communication parameters (such as baud rate and IP address) to ensure normal communication with power equipment and the cloud platform. Once the data was successfully uploaded to the cloud, the data display interface on the cloud platform was customized and developed. Based on the management needs of the commercial complex, an intuitive and easy-to-operate user interface was designed, including functional modules such as equipment operating status display, data trend charts, and alarm information push notifications.

Realized Comprehensive Real-time Monitoring: Today, the power distribution room management personnel of the commercial complex can view the operating parameters of all equipment (such as high and low voltage switchgear, transformers, etc.), including key indicators such as voltage, current, and power, in real time through the cloud platform. At the same time, environmental temperature, humidity, and water leakage conditions are also clearly visible, achieving truly comprehensive monitoring.

Improved Fault Handling Efficiency: The timeliness and accuracy of fault early warnings have been greatly improved. When a piece of equipment has potential hazards such as overload or short circuit, or when environmental parameters are abnormal, maintenance personnel can receive alarm information via SMS or APP push notifications in the first time, clearly identifying the location and type of the faulty equipment. This has reduced the average repair time from several hours to tens of minutes, effectively minimizing the impact of power outages on commercial operations.

Data-Driven Operation Optimization: Through the analysis and mining of a large amount of historical data, the commercial complex can better understand the operating patterns of power equipment. For example, by adjusting power distribution strategies and optimizing equipment operating modes based on power consumption data during different periods, it is estimated that 30% of electricity costs can be saved annually.
