In textile and printing production, multiple machines generate important operational data such as running status, stop status, meter count, and fault status. However, different machines may use different interfaces, making centralized data collection and SCADA integration challenging.

The BLIIOT BL191 OPC UA EdgeIO Controller provides an efficient solution by collecting field-level equipment data and transmitting it to the customer's SCADA system through the standardized OPC UA protocol. BL191 supports 1–3 I/O expansion boards, allowing flexible configuration based on the actual signals and interfaces of textile machines.

Flexible Data Acquisition

Depending on the machine interface, BL191 can collect different types of data:

  • Digital Input:machine running, stop, standby and fault signals
  • Pulse Counting:meter count, production length or machine cycles
  • RS485 Modbus RTU:data from machine controllers or industrial instruments
  • Analog Input:4–20 mA / 0–10 V process parameters
  • RTD / TC:temperature data when required

The BL191 supports an isolated RS485 interface for Modbus RTU Master communication, while its optional Y-series I/O modules provide digital, analog, temperature and pulse-counting functions.

Unified OPC UA Integration with SCADA

The system architecture can be configured as:

Textile Machines → BL191 → OPC UA → Customer SCADA

BL191 collects and organizes data at the edge, then maps the acquired information into OPC UA nodes. The customer's SCADA system can access or subscribe to these standardized data points through OPC UA, without needing to communicate with each machine individually.

For example, the SCADA system can monitor:

  • Machine 01 → Running / Stop / Fault / Meter Count
  • Machine 02 → Running / Stop / Fault / Meter Count
  • Machine 03 → Running / Stop / Fault / Meter Count

This enables centralized monitoring of multiple textile machines and provides a more consistent data structure for production management.

From Machine Data to Smart Production Monitoring

By deploying BL191 as the edge data acquisition layer, existing textile machines can be connected to the customer's SCADA system through a unified OPC UA interface.
