16 isolated digital inputs for reliable industrial field signal acquisition.
Industrial control systems often need to collect multiple digital signals from sensors, switches, relays, and other field devices. Reliable signal acquisition is essential for accurate monitoring and control.
The N116x provides 16 digital input channels in a compact distributed I/O module. Three versions are available for low-level triggered signals, high-level triggered signals, and dry-contact inputs, allowing the module to adapt to different industrial field devices and wiring requirements.

The N116x provides 16 independent digital input channels, from DI1 to DI16, for collecting control and status signals from industrial field devices. Effective electrical isolation helps prevent interference between signals and protects the integrity of connected equipment and data.
Individual channel indicators provide clear visual feedback, allowing operators to quickly check the logic status of every digital input during commissioning, operation, and troubleshooting.
The spring-cage terminals support solid, stranded, and fine-stranded conductors from 0.3 to 2.5 mm² (AWG 22-14). The recommended stripping length is 8 to 9 mm. Each spring terminal accepts one conductor, providing a secure connection for industrial control cabinets.
The N116x series includes three models for different digital signal and wiring requirements. The module must be used with a suitable distributed I/O coupler, such as a BL210 Series coupler.
Designed for industrial automation environments, the N116x supports an operating temperature range of -20°C to 55°C, storage temperatures from -40°C to 70°C, 5% to 95% non-condensing relative humidity, and operation at altitudes up to 2000 m. It features IP20 protection, DIN-35 rail mounting, 2 kVrms isolation, and EMC protection compliant with IEC 61000-4-2 and IEC 61000-4-5 Level 2.
| Model and Signal Type | Input Logic and Common Terminal |
|---|---|
| N1161 — 16-channel low-level triggered digital input | Logic 1: +15 to +30 VDC; logic 0: -3 to +5 VDC; common terminal connected to power positive |
| N1162 — 16-channel high-level triggered digital input | Logic 1: +15 to +30 VDC; logic 0: -3 to +5 VDC; common terminal connected to 0 VDC |
| N1163 — 16-channel dry-contact digital input | Logic 1 when the input is shorted to the common terminal; logic 0 when the input is disconnected |
| Shared N116x specifications | 16 input channels, 2 kVrms isolation, spring-cage terminals, LED status indication, and DIN-35 rail mounting |
The 16 individual input indicators make it easier to check field signal status and locate wiring or sensor problems. Spring-cage terminals provide secure connections for industrial control cabinet installations.
The compact 15.4 mm module width helps reduce control panel space while providing 16 digital input channels. Three signal versions allow integrators to select the appropriate input type for each application.
The N116x provides a standardized digital input solution for machines and automation equipment that require reliable monitoring of sensors, switches, relays, and dry-contact signals.
The N116x connects field devices and processes to a distributed I/O system through a suitable fieldbus coupler, such as the BL210 Series. Different N Series modules can be arranged together according to the required I/O configuration.
The N116x measures 15.4 × 104.6 × 74.9 mm, weighs approximately 71.2 g, and installs on a standard DIN-35 rail. Select N1161, N1162, or N1163 according to the required digital input signal type.
